I am a Trinidad and Tobago national scholar and completed my B.S. in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the New York University Tandon School of Engineering in the spring of 2015. As an undergraduate I was a protein engineering research assistant, helping to develop of a new method of protein stabilization by insertional fusion of a relatively unstable “guest” enzyme into a highly stable “host” thermophilic protein. I also worked as a bioengineering research intern at the NASA Ames Research Center, where I designed and ran preliminary experiments on a disposable bioreactor for in situ production of nutrients in space. I started my PhD in Chemical Engineering at RPI in the fall of 2015, and I am currently co-advised by Dr. Linhardt and Dr. Koffas. My research project will involve chondroitin production through metabolic engineering of Escherichia coli. Outside of the lab I really enjoy trying new recipes, modeling, and surviving a good workout at the gym.
